Bruno’s local-first approach allows you to configure it with any AI agent and editors like Cursor, VS Code, Claude, and more. Meanwhile keeping all your data version controlled and stored on your local filesystem. You can configure Bruno to use any AI agent and editor of your choice.

Use Cases

See Use cases for common workflows (generating collections, writing tests, CI/CD) and example prompts you can use with any supported agent.

Supported Agents

  • Cursor - AI code editor with powerful automation for API development workflows
  • VS Code with GitHub Copilot - Popular editor with built-in AI code completion
  • Codex - OpenAI’s coding agent; uses AGENTS.md for custom instructions
  • Claude - AI agent for writing code and automating workflows

MCP support

Bruno does not currently provide an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server or MCP client integration. MCP is not needed for agents to work with Bruno. Collections are plain text files on your local filesystem, so any AI agent can read and edit them directly. Each integration works through the agent’s own instruction file, such as .cursor/rules for Cursor, AGENTS.md for Codex, or .claude/CLAUDE.md for Claude.
